Understanding Violence in Russia
The blog "Understanding violence in Russia" aims to make available to researchers and to the public a corpus of articles and references on violence in Russia. It offers analyses of those data and favours collaboration between researchers and practitioners working on these topics . The blog is supported by the "Emergences" programme of the City of Paris and is in French, English and Russian.
Valerii Tishkov is one of Russia's leading thinkers on issues of ethnic cohesion, nation building, and ethnic conflict.
He is the chair of the Commission on Tolerance and Freedom of Conscience(Komissiia Obshchestvennoi palaty po voprosom tolerantnost i svobody sovesti) set up in 2006 under the auspices of the Civic Chamber of the Russian Federation (Obshchestvennaia palata Rossiiskoi Federatsi).
His website includes a rich collection of publications, as well as biographical information, ethnographic material, and photographic and video archives. He also writes a personal blog over at Live Journal.
